Cinque terre looks nice but we're looking at all the beach towns in liguria. We'd like something not too touristy, with nice warm beaches where you can swim, and old architecture. Moneglia and lerici look interesting. has anyone been there? how are they (crowds, climate, etc...)?

Last June I stayed in San Remo and they had a beautful beach there. The town itself is very nice and since Rick Steves does not mention it in his books/shows there are not that many tourists. Here is a Web site for the town. Let me know if you have any questions.

Anne, have you ever heard about Zoagli?... it's a small town near Portofino. We stayed in a castle there and next to the beach we ate the most delicious italian food.My friends and I still talk about it and this was three years ago. Hope this could be helpful... happy travels.
