On the final night of our trip, we need to stay near the airport in Rome as we have an early morning flight. Any recommendations? Would prefer a hotel that has a shuttle to airport if possible. Thank you!
Many just stay in the city and get one of the good shuttle services pick them up in front of their accommodations at a set time. We paid $50 last month for the ride (2 people), which is not really that much more than taking the relatively expensive Leonardo Express train from Rome Termini out to the airport. It's not as far by auto as it seems via train.
Rome FCO is famous for those 6:00 a.m. flights that just take you to another European gateway airport where you sit around until mid day to fly out. It's difficult enough spending 10-12 hours in the air going home--much less having to get up at 3:00 a.m. to make those early flights. We only fly late mornings or later.
Hi Suzanne:
I would try booking.com, or google hotels near the Rome airport the look them up on booking.com. While the hotel I fond this way was not in Rome, I did get a good hotel. The hotel's website will list if they have a shuttle.
We always have stayed at the FCO Hilton.
You can walk to terminal from Hilton.
Thank you for your responses.
About 8 years ago we stayed over night at Hotel Club Isola Sacra, about 4 km from the airport. I see that it is now a Golden Tulip hotel. It was perfect for us and would be so as well under its new name. There is a shuttle to the airport (we paid 6 euro each at that time) and a shuttle to and from Rome. Worth having a look at perhaps.
