Our family of 8 (adults) will be traveling to Rome for 10 days in July this summer. We are looking for recommendations for a really nice hotel in a good location. 3 or 4 star is preferred. It's important that we have reliable air conditioning, an elevator and 4 rooms with either 2 twins or a king size bed. My husband and I generally stay in Rick's great recommendations in Europe but the other 3 couples have never been overseas & one of the couples with us (my son & his now fiance) will be on their honeymoon so we are looking for something other than budget. We prefer a hotel rather than apartments or a villa ... privacy reasons of course! Thanks everyone!

The RS books do include recommendations for more expensive lodging. Look for the ones with $$$ before the listing. For example, Hotel Nazionale sounds very much like what you're looking for.

Check out Albergo del Senato http://www.albergodelsenato.it/ a fine hotel in a great location in central Rome.

While I often use Rick Steves as a reference there are other resources available. Two places to begin are venere.com and tripadvisor.com. Both sites will give you hotel choices, room types, pricing, map locations, and client reviews. Buon viaggio,
