Next year we will have free days in Rome from Good Friday through Easter (RS tour starts on Monday). Would welcome any experiences with ideas of what to do, what not to do, closures, etc. We know there will be crowds. Thanks!
I've spent Easter weekend in Italy before (tho not Rome) and in my experience things were mostly open except for Easter Sunday itself. We had a lot of trouble finding somewhere to eat dinner that night- we were in Milan and only a few of the most touristy restaurants were open. I would suggest doing a bit of research on that to ensure you don't go hungry!
About meals - consider the Jewish Ghetto. It will be open and the food is fabulous.
