Good Friday in Rome

We are interested in the Friday night Papal Procession at the Colosseum. We've read there is the Way of the Cross, where the Pope (and onlookers) trace the Stations of the Cross from the Colosseum to Palatine Hills in a torch-lit procession. Wondering if anyone has suggestions for how to best observe this procession.

I have not been there on Good Friday, but my son was there for Holy week and Easter this year. I will ask him for information. I don't recall him saying that the Holy Father led the procession, although he was present. People were there waiving their national flags. Visit pnac.org. From there you can check out the visitors link to the bishops office in Rome. You can email/ call them and they can give helpful advice
