I just booked a reservation direct with Lufthansa roundtrip Seattle to Rome next April/May for $943 each with extra legroom (the legroom added $250 to the fare). This includes one carry-on (up to 18 pounds) and one checked bag (up to 50 pounds). I usually have just carry-on, but it usually weighs about 20-21 pounds. We may have to check one small bag, or I need to reduce what I take a bit. Thought this may be of interest.

Donna that's a good price with the added legroom . Two sites that I really love for finding cheap flights are Google Flights and Momondo. Theirs also sites I forget that you can pay an annual fee and they send you airfare alerts for all over the world. I found airfare to Italy with British Airways that had similar price options from San Francisco SFO. The sale popped up on my FB feed. I think because of Covid they were having a special sale to get travelers. My friend and I are traveling there in Oct. Interestingly sometimes these sale prices aren't listed on Google Flights or Momondo. Your trip will be lots of fun.
