We just need to find accomodation for 3 nights in Rome and then our itinerary is set for Italy! Checked out Le finestre but it is not too centrally located and Katja's B&B has no AC..seems to me these 2 have been mentionned on this site...
Try Nicolas Inn or Fellini Inn, both have AC.
Annemarie-I stayed at Rose di Bin Guesthouse in Rome. It is between the train station and the Colesseum. Cross-pollinate.com is the website that I used to find the place, and then looked up the reviews on tripadvisor.com. This site was recommended by the folks here, and has lots of B&Bs and apartments that are reasonably priced. My room was simply decorated, but it had everything I needed (a.c.-yes)and had easy access to bus/subway systems (only needed to get to the Vatican). I walked everywhere else.
Hi Annemarie. I originally booked with Le Finestre but then cancelled because of the location. I wanted to be more central to everything & be in a more lively place at night. I chose the Palazzo Olivia apartments. It's not a B&B (which is what I originally wanted too) but they got really good reviews & they're centrally located between Piazza Navona & Campo de Fiori so the big attraction for me was the location. The apartments are fully furnished & they have A/C & a kitchen, etc. I haven't stayed there yet so I can't tell you how it was from personal experience but I didn't see any negative reviews and my communication on-line with the staff was very good; they always responded promptly to my questions. Even though I originally wanted a B&B, I decided in the end that it would be nice to be able to go to the local market & purchase breakfast foods & make a quick breakfast in the apartment every morning or walk to either Piazza & find a quaint restaurant. Here's the web site: http://www.palazzo-olivia.it/
Good luck & happy travels.
A bit on the quiet side of town (across from the Vatican) -- Hotel Alimandi Tunisi. Truly the coolest place in the entire country. Great rooftop breakfasts, very friendly and helpful staff and terrific gelato and local restaurants.
