The five of us would like to take a ride through the canals on a gondola. I’ve been researching and I’m having trouble finding anything after 6? Would live to know if they were available and where to find the site/sites to book tickets.
hey hey eyeknowmariana
look at europeforvisitors.com
click transportation and scroll down to gondolas. after 7pm the price goes up, make sure the gondola will hold all 5 of you.
we hired lucky luca, the singing gondolier, and he met us near the jewish ghetto. there were four of us friends and we brought a bottle of prosecco and small plastic cups/glasses and celebrating friends having a great time. it was about 40-45 minutes, cost more for longer ride. you discuss with him/her.
pick them out in the smaller canals around island, the grand canal is a very busy "boat hiway" even though we did cross it.
[email protected] is the singing gondolier we hired. it's a must and a "tourist thing" but we are tourists. have fun
aloha
You don’t need to book ahead of time. Just choose one when you’re there. Some have the striped shirts, etc that are especially nice for photos. The price is set, so there’s no advantage of booking ahead.
There’s no need to book in advance
Wait and see what the weather is like
Plenty of gondoliers available to hire whenever
Hi EyeKnow,
Depending on your group's budget, opting for a gondola ride as late as possible can result in a very atmospheric experience.
Btw, should any of your quintet be interested in a recent-ish TR (trip report with fotos), below is a link to our report over on the Fodors forum. There is imagery, tips and humour.
The title 'The Return of the Son of Isabel's Italy' was in reference to the New England-based gal who once had a high-profile as a photographer in Italia.
Good luck.
I am done. The end.
