I have a planned a golf cart tour from Biga Tours (https://www.bigatours.com/romecityhighlightsgolfcarttour) for my family on the day we arrive in Rome. I thought this would give us a good introduction to Rome. That said I would also like to do the Heart of Rome Walk by RS. I'm kind of wondering if I should just forgo the golf cart tour and do the walk at our leisure. This will free up a part of another day and allow us to go at our own pace and stop to eat when we want and visit the Pantheon (which we do want to visit). The golf cart tour is 2.5 hours (6-8:30pm). I'm torn, because I'm sure it will be fun and always good to have a guide live to share with us (especially for my kids who are 11 & 16)...but I'm wondering if time would be better spent on our feet and we can be more leisure about that first evening in Rome and explore on our own. Also to note our train is due to arrive in Rome at 3:00pm (from Florence).
I would opt for the Heart of Rome Walk on your day of arrival. It is always good to get some exercise the first day. The traffic in Rome is so hectic, that I think I would be nervous riding in a golf cart throughout the busy streets and motorcycle-fast scooter traffic there.
Do the walk
I am sure golf cart tour would be fun but it can’t get you close to so many sights-all in pedestrianized zones
Plus I never like to have a scheduled paid for anything booked for arrival day
( oh never mind I see you are coming grom Florence this day)
Still say do the walk ;)
Many thanks for this feedback!
My only question on this is what time of year are we talking about? The heat could be a factor in summer. The sun radiates back off all of the stone.
It is end of June
