Going to the La Fenice et Des Artistes hotel from the airport in Venice

I have made a reservation for one extra night arriving the day before my trip began to get acclimated and rested after spending a whole day traveling from San Diego to Venice. The hotel emailed me a map with various directions on how to get to the hotel from the airport.
Contrary to what I read online reported by another traveler, the Alilaguna shuttle service from the airport to the hotel was very easy and inexpensive. I purchased the ticket at the airport from their kiosk, and was told to use the elevator going up one story then walk to the left to get to where the orange colored shuttle, about a 10 minutes walk following the signs you get to the exit to the boat. It’s a nice ride, you get off at the 5th stop (S. Angelo) , then walk about 10 minutes through narrow alleys, corridors, crossing small bridges and up and down many stairs, finally to the hotel. Very hard to see or read the street signs !!! I used the google map on my iPhone, almost got lost because it was hard to find the names of those narrow alleyways, many of them in all directions, and wasn’t fun counting 150 steps to turn right or left when you get many within the next 80 or 90 steps w/o being able to see the darn signs !! Thank God, I was able to get to the hotel.
