Gnocci in Rome

Going to be in Rome for 3 days in August prior to a cruise and staying near Campo de' Fiori. I love gnocci and am looking for a restaurant in the vicinity where I can indulge. Any ideas? I like it fairly plain, just with butter or oil and cheese, not drowned in sauce. Thanks!

Thursday is the traditional gnocchi day in Rome. Any place that serves it (any day) should be able to give you the gnocchi the way you want it.

L'Idillio (in the Prenestino district, take a taxi).
You can also ask the locals for more advice on city center locations. However you need the correct spelling and pronunciation:
GNOCCHI
Pronounce: "niok-key" (beginning "ni" as in Spanish ñ with dieresis of Niño, or similar to English Onion)

@Quirite, maybe it's a generational thing or a casalinga thing, but I remember it well. Now, of course, you can get gnocchi any day.

Edit: Google "gnocchi Thursday Rome" for delicious pics and photos.

One variety I love of gnocchi and have to recommend is paired with a gorgonzola and pear sauce (gnocchi al gorgonzola e pere). So tasty!

I totally agree with Devon. Gnocchi al gorgonzola e pere is my favorite! You might try Ristorante Maccheroni, Piazza delle Coppelle 44

Osteria da Fortunata, Via del Pellegrino 11, near Campi di Fiori, has been recommended by our apartment owners where we will be staying in May. Pasta handmade right in front of you , including gnocchi!
