I thought I would leave my thoughts for those who perhaps would follow a better path than us. I have used Rail Europe to buy a Global Pass and then start to try and reserve seating as required. This suited our needs to follow an itinerary etc & be organised before we left Australia and not to be 'wasting' time in different countries trying to arrange transportation. Given my comments need to be within the rules I will temper my comments & would urge anyone to investigate fully before committing with Rail Europe. It is a web site based business only, and if you prefer even direct email discussion you will find it frustrating. I'd suggest with the benefit of hindsight to go to the Eurail site direct (my fault - lack of research), or even rail operators direct if you are not going to too many countries. Rail Europe in a sense is an easy site to navigate but the experience falls well short of realistic customer expectations for me. If you investigate, even with Eurail direct I'd be surprised if your options weren't noticeably cheaper.
