Gifts for daughters

I am traveling on Rick Steves' BOE tour this Fall and was wondering if any one had suggestions for gifts for my daughters who are 23 and 20? They have both been to Europe before and have purchased scarves and the usual photo frame souvenirs, etc.

We bring our girls (16 and 20)all kinds of things, but what they like best and wear all the time are pieces of jewelry. Particular favorites are rings with a Greek key design we got for them in Athens. Also, when our Spanish exchange family has given them gifts, their favorites have always been pieces of jewelry. Relatively inexpensive pieces of jewelry that are unique to a certain country or region make great keepsake gifts. Rings, necklaces and earrings also take up almost no room in your suitcases.

I agree. When I've traveled and brought back a necklace or bracelet for my daughter, she loved it. She also loved Puma products that are different than the US stuff.

The pashminas! You can get them from $3EU on the streets to $15 or so for one made of fine silk or cashmere other really nice materials. They are so great! Scarf, wrap, lap throw, shawl... lots of different colors and personalities.... everybody wears them over there.... all the rage!

Thanks for your suggestions -- I was considering jewelery but thought it would be very expensive. I'm glad to hear that I can pick up some nice pieces without going broke. My daughter did bring back a couple of scarves last year which my older daughter loved -- I'll definitely pick up some for myself also.

Scarfs, jewelery, belts, chocolates, purses, soaps, note cards etched with the Effiel Tower, or the Florence Duomo as examples. Maybe some pastas or coffees. Since they've both been can you ask them what they liked or are you wanting to surprise them.

I did ask them what they would like and they said they wanted me to pick something. Also I will be missing my younger daughter's b-day so I would like to get her something special.

We also have to bring home candy for my younger daughter. She loves to try all the unique things she's never seen in America. We find all kinds of fun candy products inexpensively at grocery stores.Even at 16, she loves to open little candy prizes with completely unexpected little plastic toys inside. She and her friends have fun with these.

Since the girls said "pick something" I'd go with something they can keep for a long time. A ring, bracelet, necklace, earrings. Handcrafted jewelry box. Italian leather wallet, coin purse. Have a great tour. I know you'll find your gifts.

In Venice there are some great looking bracelets made of glass beads--multi colored and are on an elasticized band. Some are as little as 10 euros. Necklaces available also that are a nice accessory. Yes, scarves everywhere for good prices.

I have 2 sons with long time girlfriends. I have bought pendants for the girls in Venice. One year I bought the Murano glass perfume bottles & gave them to the girls for birthday presents. They are beautiful, but it worked because we finished our trip in Venice so I was able to carry them home. I have seen beautiful writing paper & notecards in Florence, but if you want something forever that might not work for your girls. A leather purse or wallet from Florence would. Trust me, your suitcase will be full of things for the girls when you get home, just make sure you buy something for yourself!
Have a great trip.

Yes I'm sure I will have more gifts my girls than for myself ... can't forget my husband either. I am going with my sister on this trip.
