Can someone please explain the easiest way to get to the area of St Marks? After so many hours of flying, the extra cost may be worth it. Please help!
there are four different ways...there is the slow more inexpensive water bus and the speedier non-stop one...then there is a pricey water taxi and then also a cheap shuttle bus that will take you to the tip of the grand canal...
I use AliLaguna for St. Marks...that said, we were there last week and it was packed with VERY loud, obnoxious French tourists and, after a long flight, we felt silly for not springing for a water taxi. On the way back, I had no problem with the water bus at all (but it was early am and not crowded at all and we were no longer jet-lagged!) See if you can find another group to share the water taxi cost with it (or, there is a new share service online you can reserve in advance.) The bus to Piazzale Roma is the fastest...but only if your hotel is near Piazzale Roma/Train Station, otherwise, you'd have to take transport or walk from there anyway.
Thanks for the help
