This is my second trip to venice. The first time I traveled to Milan via the Glacier Express from Switzerland and from Milan trained to Venice. I will be only going to venice this trip. What is the best way? Fly to Milan? I'm coming from New York then train to Venice?
Thank you in advance.
Joan
Why not fly to Venice?
Flying into Venice is an option, although usually with a stop in Europe first. It might be faster to fly directly to Milano and take the high speed train.
If you are already flying it makes more sense to fly directly as you can to Venice. If that involves long lay overs then you might consider flying to Milan and the train. But that takes a long time also. Have to get from the airport to the Milan Central station and then on to Venice. A lot of switching around.
Just checking random days, there are plenty of non-stop flights New York to Venice, averaging 8 1/2 - 9 1/2 hrs.
Delta flies out of JFK seasonally.
American flies out of Philadelphia if you happen to live in Jersey.
Otherwise you will have to fly into another big gateway European airport to get there.
There are flights from JFK to Venice , I see one direct , and even those with layovers are reasonable ( 1 1/2 to 2 hours )
