Getting to Urbino and San Marino.

I am travelling from Bologna by public transport and want to have a stop in Ravenna for a few hours and then Rimini for a few hours before getting a late afternoon bus to San Marino.

Wondering if that is possible in one day and if so, what the best transport options are. Also, are there are luggage lockers or left luggage in Ravenna and Rimini?

I have the bus timetable for San Marino already.

Next day I want to leave San Marino maybe late morning and go to Urbino but not so sure if I can get to Pesaro, leave my luggage, get to Urbino for a few hours and get back to Pesaro to get my luggage by about 6.00 pm.

From there I am not sure if I can make it to Pescara before dark or whether Ancona is worth seeing?

I will be travelling in the first week of October and making my way along the Adriatic to Pescara and then inland to Sulmona where my family originated.

Any suggestions, including a cheap hotel or pensione in San Marino, Ancona or Pescara would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks, Maria

Bologna to Ravenna to Rimini to San Marino is a lot for one day. This is particularly true if you are dependent on train and bus timetables. Check very carefully to avoid being stranded. And on a Sunday this may be impossible, as bus services are often curtailed on Sundays.

Also, Ravenna is a lovely town, and assuming you're interested in seeing the mosaics, could take much of a day by itself (not just a few hours). I'm not sure what the attractions are of a few hours in Rimini, as it's mostly famous as a beach town (mobbed in season) and as the birthplace of Federico Fellini. By October, it will be an off-season beach town; I'm not sure how much will even be open, or what there is to see.

Thanks for your reply Harold. I take your point about Rimini. However I have to go there as it is where the bus to Sam Marino leaves from.

So I should spend longer in Ravenna and arrive in Rimini with enough time to transfer to the bus to San Marino. And it should ideally be on a week day.

Thank you again for your input.
