We are flying out of the Florence airport at 6:40 AM, and will be reliant on taxi or shuttle to get there. Do you have recommendations for lodging near the airport, or hotels with a 24 hour shuttle? Thank you!

I had a 06:05 flight out of Florence last October. I just had the hotel I was staying at (Hotel Fiorita) arrange a taxi for me the day before. Worked fine.

The airport is only 4 miles from the city center, therefore any taxi can get you there in 15 min from any hotel downtown. No need to stay near the airport, probably one of the worst areas in the city.
The hotel is small and only regional jets fly out of Florence to the main European airports. Therefore getting there 1 hr prior to departure will give you more than enough time to spare.

We had an early flight out on a trip last year. Our B&B owner reserved a taxi for us 2 days in advance. The taxi showed up 5 minutes early and we made it to the airport with no problem. The Florence airport is small. You will get in line at the "gate" to get on a bus. The bus then drives about 100 feet and you get on the plane.
