Getting to the amalfi coast

My husband and I want to take a trip to the amalfi coast. Can anyone tell me specifically what is the best way to get there? I am considering hiring a private driver to get me from Naples to our destination, but wonder what the cost is? I would very much appreciate it. Thanks.

We hired a driver to take us from Sorrento to the Naples train station-6 adults plus luggage. The charge was 95 Euro plus we gave him a tip-I am assuming that the reverse trip would be about the same, maybe cheaper b/c you are are only two people. We used Sea Horse Car Service.

We went to the Amalfi coast in mid May and the weather was just right- Positano did get up to 85+. We drove all thru Italy so cannot comment on a driver. Certainly the local train will take you from Naples to Sorrento- A great place to start your Amalfi vacation- then ferries run to Capri, Positano and the town of Amalfi- bus up to Ravello. Local buses are only 1-2E from town to town. Ferry to Capri for the day 15E+ and the ferry from Positano to Amalfi 4E+. Very nominal. RS book will give you a lot of information on the travel options from Naples and to all these towns as well.

Michaela, if you will scan down the postings of yesterday, I responded to Linda "Fiumicino airport to Sorrento" concerning a driver from Rome. The company also does Naples for much less. Good luck.

Thank you both. I'll do that. I am just worried about the logistics of getting around. I don't really want to have to ride a bus with luggage, after that I don't care.
