What is the fastest way to get from Trastevere neighborhood in Rome to the Airport? We have an 11:15am flight, so I'm assuming we need to get to the Airport by 9am.

Do not attempt to check in at your airline less than 1 hour before flight, therefore allow at least 2 hours at airport. Next, get to rome main train station by bus or cab and take express train to airport. Most expensive is to take cab all the way from Trastevere to airport.

The fastest and the cheapest way to get to the airport ( assuming you are going to Fiumicino the main airport) is by train. Go to the Trenitalia website.( www.trenitalia.com and type in Roma Trastevere and Fiumicino Aeroporto to get the schedule.)There is a train station in Trastevere from which you can get to the airport. We did this 2 weeks ago from Tuscolana station which is on the same line. It cost about 6 Euro per person. The trip was about 1/2 hour. This is not an airport express like the Leonardo but a local commuter train. I would advise you to get to the airport well in advance.If there are delays or long lines at check in or at security 2 hours might not be enough. It was very busy the day we left and I was glad to have arrived at the airport 3 hours before the flight home.
