Does anyone have experience with a reliable, inexpensive shuttle service from hotels in the Vatican area,(or what is generaly referred to as hotels in the center) to Leonardo DaVinci(Fiumicino) airport for an early departing flight?
I normally use the Leonardo Express, but our flight is too early (6:45 AM) for that.
I saw a price of 34 euro for 2 persons on the InItaly site.
Can anyone vouch for their reliabilty?

40E has been the going rate for the past 2 years.
40E is the fixed price day time taxi rate to and from the airport. I believe they are allow to charge a higher rate at night. A shuttle is a different arrangement. I would double check with your hotel for their recommendations.
We used RomaCabs for our early flight. The cost was 55 euros for a 5:15 am pick up. Very reliable and professional drivers.

I would recommend having your hotel arrange the taxi for you. I stayed at the Hotel Aberdeen during the Dec 2008 winter holiday and asked them to arrange a cab to the airport at a very early hour. Not only was the cab on time, but the hotel made sure the price was as stated and the driver knew where I was headed.

With such an early flight have you considered enjoying your last afternoon in Rome and then checking in at an airport hotel so you are right there in the morning. I have not done this in Rome but did this the last time we were in Paris. Even staying at the airport we found it hard to get up and to the airport 2-3 hours before the flight.
