If the ferry timing does not work - how else might o e get from Naples (or possibly sorrento) to Positano is there a bus? Or can someone recommend a private transfer - I see a bunch on the viator app

Then bus or ferry to Positano ( change bus or ferry in Amalfi)

Month of year makes a big difference, either for road traffic or low-season reduced ferry schedules. Do you have restrictions on what time you can check in? From May to September it is normal for the line in Sorrento to board the bus to Positano to be longer than will fit on the next, half-hourly, bus. We asked our hotel to book a car service for a day on the Amalfi coast, which worked great, but that might be over 125 Euros to Positano.

We used Aldo Limos- great service and very prompt.
Mondo offered shared tours and some shared ride service. They are recommended in the RS guidebook.
