Anyone flown to the Palermo, Sicily from the United States? Looks like I fly to Rome and then from Rome to Palermo. When I look at flights the time in Altanta Airport is 1 hour 48 minutes which is way too short for that international airport and then only an hour layover in Rome which again is way too short.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am flying US to Palermo at the end of this month. I am starting in California, but then am flying JFK-Munich-Palermo on Lufthansa, the final leg actually being on Air Dolomiti, which is Lufthansa's regional airline.
I think you'll be ok. If you fly to Atlanta you are probably using a Delta/Alitalia code share flight (both are partners in the sky Team alliance). Since Alitalia has numerous flights from Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) to Palermo (PMO), even if you miss your connection at FCO due to a possible delay, Alitalia will simply rebook you on the next available flight to PMO. Not a big deal, just extra time for more drinks at FCO airport.
I will be flying to Palermo via FCO in 3 weeks (yay!). I asked about the transfer in this thread

You should be fine with the transfer times. When you get to Palermo, there is a bus from the airport into the city (stops at the central train station in the middle of town), if you aren't renting a car or taking a taxi.
