We are leaving for Italy on Thursday. We will be spending part of the time in Venice and part in Padova. Our adult son would like to visit a nature area. He has been reading about the Euganean Hills and the Oasis Valle Averto. We will not have a car. Does anyone know if either of these areas would be available from Padova by train or bus, and how doable would it be for a day trip. (Our time in Venice we will be with a tour, so we would have to do it from Padova.) Or maybe there would be other nearby places that would give him a chance to do some birding. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Here is the park website: http://www.parks.it/parco.colli.euganei/Eiti.php
With some cross-referencing of trails and train lines, it looks like it might be possible. When you zoom in with google maps, you can see the train stations.
The Oasis looks less likely without transport, and I have found WWF sites often have restricted hours, etc.

I would ask at a tourist office.
The Colli Euganei is one of my favorite parts of Italy, and it is Prosecco country!
If you can find a day tour from Padova, that might be the best solution.
Thank you for both replies. I think my son has been on the part websites, but I hadn't seen them yet. We will definitely check out the TI office when we get to Padova to see if we can find a day trip. (That way we hopefully don't have to worry as much about our limited Italian.) The Prosecco sounds good too!
