Hello, last minute flight change leaving Marco Polo in June at 7 am. Assuming we should be there about 6 am. What is the quickest way to get to this airport that early in morning? Don’t want to miss my flight. Thank you
If you mean from the cruise port in Santa Croce I suggest you go to the airport the day before and spend the night in a hotel by the airport.
If you're flying internationally you had better get there more than an hour in advance.
Hello. Thank you for your thoughts. No it is not a cruise and we are t flying internationally. We are spending 2 days in Venice at an Air BNB then flying to Olbia, Sardinia. It makes sense to spend a night by airport, it is just that with checkout at noon from BNB we have to carry luggage around all day, effectively missing a day of touring. Any other thoughts/Help out there? Even hiring a taxi, is that possible? Cost? Thank you
Also it is common airlines change times? It really screws up your whole itinerary. If I change my flight and my Air BNB dates as I can in next 15 days, who is to say airline won’t change it again? That is why I am really trying to make the 7 am Flight Work. Thanks.
Unfortunately flight changes can happen and seem to do so when it will most affect us and our travels! We booked a flight from Stockholm to Prague 5 month’s in advance and received 2 notices about flight changes. It was originally supposed to depart at 1345, then was changed to 1545 then was changed to 1145. Needless to say it was a little nerve racking every time I received a change notification from them wondering if we would lose a day of sightseeing or have to alter our plans again. As typically happens it all worked out okay for us but do try to have a backup plan in case and allow as much cushion time as you are comfortable with.
From most of Santa Croce you can easily walk to Piazzale Rome to get a bus to the airport.
The ATVO express bus starts running at 4:20 am, arriving at Marco Polo 20 minutes later.

The ACTV service starts at 4:35 and takes a few minutes longer.

Buy tickets for either at the piazza, but make sure you get the correct one for the service you wish to use.
Thank you for your help everyone. It seems by last reply, even though we will get up early it sounds like the ATVO will work to get us there on time. If anyone else has thoughts or comments, please let me know.

You might want to “practice” the walk to Piazzale Roma ahead of time and time the walk. You could buy your tickets the day before to avoid that bit of last-minute stress.

We walked there from our apartment in San Polo to meet someone coming from the airport. I enjoyed seeing a new part of Venice which I would not otherwise have explored.
