Getting to Lido for Venice Film Festival

Hello,
We will be in Venice for the Venice Film Festival and are trying to decide whether it's better to stay in Venice proper, or at Hotel Indigo on Sant' Elena, which is just a short taxi ride from Lido. I've heard that the water taxis are full during the festival, so is it better to stay closer to Lido, or further away in order to get on a taxi before it fills up?

Thanks,
Karen

Why do you want to take an expensive water taxi when there is vaporetto service every 12 minutes from St Elena to Venice proper? You can get a multi day pass to get the price down.

Thanks, Sam! That was just my lack of knowledge of the terminology. A vaporetto would certainly be fine, and my question is more about how crowded they might be during the festival since it is near the end of the line. Do the vaporettos stop there after picking up other people from other areas of Venice, or do they run directly back and forth between Sant'Elena and Lido?

The No 1 line starts in Santa Maria Elisabetta (Lido), so it should start out empty after it unloads all the passengers coming from Venice proper. It runs back and forth between Piazzale Roma and Santa Maria Elisabetta all day long. Santa Elena is the 1st stop in Venice proper coming from S.M.E.

Does the #1 route go from Sant'Elena to Venice and back, or does it go to Lido first? Guess I need to try to find a map.
