Getting to Hotel in Rome

I will arrive mid day on May 17 at the Termini Station and will be staying four nights at the Hotel Aberdeen where many of Rick's tours have stayed. I've tried to find at the location in relation to the train station and it looks on several maps to be .6 to .9 miles, depending on which map. I see that there is a metro station at the train station and one at Pizza del Repubblica not far from the hotel, but I've never used their Metro. Is it better to walk to the Hotel Aberdeen or take the Metro, or perhaps a taxi. I will be traveling solo with my RS Convertible Backpack. I could not tell the path a walk will take. Thank you.

It is a very straightforward walk of less than 15 minutes. I would walk. You can get walking directions on Google maps. Hopefully, this link will show the route.

I agree, I'd walk. The googlemaps show a lot of zigzags that will be kind of evident once you get there as the part in front of the station is open so they have you routed weird, if that makes sense.

I'd actually walk down Via Viminale past the Opera house to Via Firenze and then it's a right and a straight shot. Aberdeen will be on the right in a couple of blocks.

Very easy to walk. Only drawback is that the sign on the hotel is small. So look closely. There would be no point in using the Metro since it would take long to use than to walk. The taxi might object since it is so close. Go to the TI on the left side of the station as you look out of the station and get a map there and someone will show you where it is on the map.

Very easy to just walk. Have done it, so speak from actual experience. There are times of the day walking is probably faster than a taxi.

Walking up/down the stairs in/out of the Metro, stopping to buy ticket, and waiting would take longer than walking.

Thank you all very much. First time solo to Italy (and Europe) and a little apprehensive on the small details. This makes it seem almost too easy.

It is an easy walk. When you get onto Via Nazionale, you will turn right where McDonald's is on the corner. Hotel Aberdeen is down the street about 2 blocks, directly across the street from the Ministry. The front door of the hotel can be hard to miss but is pretty much directly across from the person guarding the entrance to the Ministry.

We've stayed at a hotel on Via delle Quattro Fontane, two blocks or so south of where you'll be, and it was an easy walk from Termini. You won't have any problems getting to the Aberdeen on foot. :O)

What you might do is take a virtual, street-view 'walk' on google from Termini? I do those all the time so I can see landmarks on corners where we need to turn and what's close by the places we'll be staying. The others are right about hotel signs being small and difficult to see sometimes; it can help to know in advance what the exterior of the building looks like.
