We are not taking a cruise ship excursion to Florence. Options are too strenuous for my husband who is 85. Any ideas tours or transport that start from the dock & into Florence? We hate to miss Florence sites & shopping.

Try toursbylocals.com. They have tours from cruise ships. Just click on shore excursions, plug in your ship and date, and tours should pop up. These can be private.

Given the travel time, and costs involved for a private tour, I'd first check to see if the ship offers a Florence On Your Own excursion, where they just provide the transportation.

the previous post was in November 2024, 10 months ago - things may have changed or this could be a completely different cruise.
After all the consultation on the previous thread the decision was to take the ship's offering. That apparently won't work now. I understand that as we age things can change.
If you are still docking at La Spezia that is so far away I think you will need to arrange a private driver and be prepared to pay big bucks.
I hope it works out.
