My flight leaves FCO at 6:45am. Knowing the express train does not start running that early, do you have any suggestions for getting to the airport. I'm open to all: taxi, bus, shuttle, etc.
We had an early flight last Sunday (6:20) and took a shuttle arranged by our hotel. If you google "Rome Shuttle" or "FCO Shuttle" you should get a number of shuttle services. Enjoy your trip.
Debbie, In that situation, I'd ask the Hotel to pre-arrange either a Taxi or Shuttle. You'll probably have to depart from Rome at about 04:00 (or earlier), depending how early you have to check-in for your flight. Happy travels!
I highly recommend Rome Cabs http://www.romecabs.com/. They have a flat fee of euro 55.00 for Rome to FCO and are very reliable.
We just returned from Rome May 28th. I was rather late booking hotels and Hotel Giardino (recommended by RS) only had two nights available - May 24th and 25th. They arranged for two more nights at the another hotel round the corner and also arranged the taxi for pickup at 3:30 am for a 6:20 am flight - Cost: flat 40 euro + 8 euro night charge - a total of $48 euros. The taxi was prompt and courteous.
Ask the hotel, especially if they are recommended by RS. Rome airport does not wake up early. The airline counter did not open till 4:20 - 2hrs before the flight. No shops or food stalls open so take something for breakfast.
Thanks to all of the great responses! And thank you for the heads up about the airport not "opening" early. I will make sure to bring breakfast. Thank you!
We used Rome Airport Transportation, perfect!! http://www.romeairporttransportation.com/
