Getting to Capri from Athens

If we are flying from Athens to get to Capri, is there a way to avoid going through Naples? If not, I’m assuming we’d fly to Naples. Once at Naples airport, what is the safest way to get to ferry port and how long would that take? I would just prefer to avoid experiences I’ve had in past in Naples with men grabbing my bags to help me and then expecting me to pay them, etc…..

Naples would be the easiest. Taxi would be fastest. Just stand firm and when they say luggage is extra, say "No!"
What we did in Naples which was very helpful was to print out the taxi fares set by the city and once you show it, the drivers will stop trying to get extra money out of you.

Naples is the closest airport with flights to Greece. Rome airport is the next closest but 120 miles away. Hoverfly and maybe other companies operates helicopters from Capri to Naples airport and other airports. That is the quickest and safest way to get there without going through the city, but I think they ask for more money than what those people were asking you for carrying your bags.

One way or another, you would need to go through Naples. It's a bit under 7km to the ferry terminal. Depending on traffic, less than 20 minutes by taxi. The airport website has info on taxis for arriving passengers and a downloadable list of fixed fare rates.

No way to avoid Naples. You could fly to Rome and take the express train to Naples, if you wanted to avoid the Naples airport specifically (which I totally get). Not sure it's worth the extra time. FWIW, we recently travelled from Rome to Sorrento by train, switching in Naples, and also flew from Naples to Rome. The travel logistics were a nightmare, but we had no issues with pickpockets or aggressive people, etc. (ya never know, but that was our experience).

Wow, thank you all for your quick response. To be fair my experience with people grabbing my bags was when trying to board a train. They didn’t ask, just grabbed and went on the train then asked for money. At least I will know better what to expect this time around. Thanks again.
