What is the best way - time and cost - for 1 or 2 people to get to the Marco Polo Airport in Venice for a 8:40am flight to Brussels enroute to the states? Also what about arrival? More concerned with cost than time then. Thank you.
Elizabeth, the least expensive way to get to the Marco Polo airport from Venice is one of the two bus systems that depart the Piazzale Roma beginning about 5:00am in the morning. One bus system is www.actv.it and the other is www.atvo.it. Cost is about 4Eu and the trip takes 20 minutes. The big issue is getting from where you are staying in Venice to the Piazzale Roma in time for the early departures. Since you are in nearby Woodland, you might be interested in our monthly travel group meeting that will take place this Saturday at the Panera store in Natomas (just off Truxel). You can see the monthly meeting notice under the General Europe category. We do bring our laptops and we can show you what you need to do. We know the bus websites as well as the vaporetto schedules.
Elizabeth: I strongly recommend that you visit the blog Venicefortravelers.com It is packed with useful information and features step by step photographic directions to get to and from the airport, the train station, etc., and very useful advice abour costs. I printed out the pictures and guide showing how to get from the airport to the Allilaguna to our hotel and I found it wonderfully helpful.
Its also helpful during your visit. Good luck. Bob
Thank you both, Larry and Bob, for your information. I think I will learn a lot more than just the information about getting to the airport from the class and from the blog. Both sound like a wealth of information.
Correction: The blog is Veniceforvisitors.com and it's terrific. Sorry...it's been a long week... Bob
