Getting to and from Amalfi Coast

Trying to find reasonable departing flight times is proving to be difficult ... Flying out of Naples, most flights depart around 6-7am. Any suggestions or alternative ideas?

We're planning on staying in the Amalfi Coast (Praiano) the entire vacation. The only alternative we can think of is to travel to Rome for a few days at the end--this would allow for more flights to choose from. But would rather not introduce more hassle than necessary.

Interested to see others travel experiences getting to and from the Amalfi Coast...

Why not have a night in Napoli and visit the National Archeological mseum, and then catch a cab to the airport for your early morning flight. The city is seriously underrated.

I like mph's plan. Can't think of a better suggestion.

Staying in Naples is a good idea worth considering--will be a tough sell with the wife however. We spent a couple nights in Naples the last time we were in Italy, and she was not a fan.

Is a night in Naples worth the extra days in Praiano? How do you get to Naples from Praiano? Presumably you'd have to do that anyway to get to Rome. All you really need is an early dinner and a nearby hotel so you can get a few hours sleep before getting up in the middle of the night to take a taxi to the airport.

Stay overnight before your flight either in Naples or Rome, whatever suits you better. Otherwise you would risk that plane could leave without you.

Sometimes you can get a later flight connection out of Naples. Try using Kayak and its "filters" on the left side; for segment 2, set a later departure time range.

But, often you can't get a later departure. In that case, I agree with the others. Just plan to be in Naples the night before your flight; you don't have to actually spend a day there. If you're taking a pre-booked car from Praiano to Naples, you can even go after dinner (I wouldn't try that with a bus, in case you miss the last one).
