Getting to Alpe di Siusi —-Bus 170 from Bolzano to the lift?

Planning ahead for next summer. We would like to stay up on Alpe di Siusi ( hotel not chosen yet, but probably near Compatsch). Looking at the bus schedule for the 170 from Bolzano to Seis, but looks like it does not actually stop at the Seiseralm Bahn. Is the Seis Busbahnhof right there, or easily walkable? I have looked at it on satellite view but Google won’t recognize “Seis Busbahnhof” to locate the bus stop.

Or do we have to transfer to the 172 bus, which shows a stop at the lift station as well as the Seis Busbahnhof, 3 minutes away.

The 170 stops below the piazza where the Seiseralmbahn/Cabinovia Alpe di Siusi departs. It is a short but uphill walk, maybe 5 minutes.

We have taken the 170 from Bolzano Autostazione to Fiè allo Sciliar changing there to the 176 which takes you right to the piazza. Not sure on timing these days so going to Seis might be more efficient. You’ll have to see when the schedules change.

We like both the AlpenHotel Panorama and Hotel Saltria. The latter is reachable by bus. The Panorama is at the top of a substantial 6 seat chairlift. Not sure how much luggage they’d let you take up on that but the hotel can arrange a taxi from Compatsch. They also sell lift passes from the hotel at a reduced price.

I recommend using the Südtirol Mobile app for journey planning, but be aware that the schedule change December 10 so planning for summer is a guess.

Richard, the lift from Ortisei does not arrive where Lola needs to go. It arrives at Mont Sëuc not Compatsch.

Thanks, Laurel! Hotel Saltria is on my short list. I haven’t looked at Hotel,Panorama yet—it didn’t come up in my search for late September dates but I will keep trying.

Try Google maps with ESSO Castelrotto. The bus terminal is right there. When we were there in Dolomites 22 to 24 Oct 2022, the 170 bus didn’t go up to the base of the Gondola (Cabinovia di Suisa or Seiser Alm Bahn). We were staying in Castelrotto and needed to take the #10 bus. We took the #170 from Bolzano to Castelrotto and back again to the train station (approx 1 hour) on Saturday & Tuesday and took the #10 on Sunday to catch the Gondola up. Staying in Castelrotto, our lodge gave us a visitor bus pass for free local travel so we didn’t have to pay the €4 pp each way for the #10 bus.
I believe that there is a bus that goes up to top of Gondola (Compatsch) from Bolzano or Castelrotto, probably only in summer season.
Enjoy. We were lucky and had perfect fall weather and did an easy hike, ending up at Rauchhutte for lunch on the deck with a great view.
