getting to airport in Florence from Lucca

Bus or train then tram or taxi

If your flight is early (as most are from FLR) you should probably be in Florence the night before departure

The train method would be train to Florence - usually 1:20 - and the tram to airport from outside the station which is another 20 minutes or so.

I believe there is a direct bus several times in the morning and then in the evening that be about an hour. Check the DD bus FIRENZE-A11-LUCCA.
Not sure of the bus price but it will not be expensive. It leaves from the main bus circle in Lucca and then the train station as well.

There’s always a taxi/private transfer but that would certainly be >100e.

Both companies have trains that would get you to SMN station (I think there's a connection rather than direct but no big deal), From the front of the station, just walk like 100 yard to the T2(?) tram that goes right to the airport. It'd be super easy. No driver required.

Just Trenitalia-regional trains

ItaloTreno does not service Lucca they only run fast trains on selected routes

...working on where to fly back home from our trip and debating airports.

Presumably Pisa is the other choice?

If it is Pisa the same train+tram and airport bus options are pretty much the same but the time is shorter than Florence.
About 30-40 minutes to Pisa instead of an 1:20 or so.
