I've been researching how to get to San Basilio cruise terminal, and three different "expert travel" websites suggest taking a LAND taxi.
Am I wrong in thinking this is impossible, or are the experts wrong?
Any tips for navigating the cruise terminal? Is it very big and/or hard to find your ship?
Thanks.
Yeah,no. There are no land taxis travelling in Venice. If arriving in Venice from the airport, you could take a land taxi or bus to Piazzale Roma, then vaporetto (#2, I think) to the vaporetto stop by the cruise terminal. Or you could splurge out on a water taxi from the airport to the cruise terminal. If staying in Venice before your embarkation, ask your hotel for the number of the vaporetto you should take.
The cruise terminal isn't that big. Just follow the signs. The cruise terminal also has its own website.
Thanks for the help.
I was thinking that either I'm crazy, or the "experts" are. Totally baffling!
I have a friend who thought he was going to rent a car to drive around in Venice. He kept insisting that he would do it as that is what he "preferred". I told him that, regardless, it is impossible as their are no roads in Venice proper. He did not want to believe me. Not sure what happened as he did not care to discuss it when he returned.
hey hey JBC
where are you traveling from to get to the cruise terminal? flying in to VCE then to terminal, staying in a hotel in venice, taking a train from outside venice to venezia santa lucia train station?
if at train station, right outside is grand canal with many "boats" there. you can get a private water taxi taking straight to terminal.

enter info concerning you and price pops up. your decision (most expensive) we've used it 4 times for convenience and we split cost. they load our bags and off we go with a beautiful ride (we love it with no stress), drop us off and take luggage out of boat

click shuttle, put info in (minimum 2) it's a shared water taxi. that may interest you
bus to piazzale roma from VCE then a vaporetto to cruise terminal. you're in charge of bags, most times crowded so squeeze in, watch for your stop and get out with your bags.
depends on your tolerance and patience, do i want to be pulling/pushing bags across steps/stairs/bridges/uneven payment, NO.
i add the cost with my expenses and let it go, worked hard to worry about penny pinching on my vacation, i want to enjoy without stressing, not knowing where i'm going even with a map, finding someone to speak english (there are some), plus my time is worth
more than confusion. enjoy your cruise.
