I'm in the process of buying tickets online, however it seems the only option to pick up the tickets is on site. Do we pick up the tickets on the date we are going (Nov 22) or can we pick them up before hand? They will hold our tickets given that we are buying them with this much time in advance, right?

I would go there 30 minutes before your entry time with the printed confirmation email. One point to note is that the ticket office for reservations is at street number 51 opposite the Accademia and to the right, around 10 yards away. You get your tickets there and then go to the entrance. When I was there, there was a line going north for those without reservations and a line going south for groups. You enter in the middle with your ticket, between these lines.
If you were in the area the day beforehand you could see if you could get the ticket then.

The museum's website states that "Entrance and ticket office are accessible from Via Ricasoli 60"

We just did this last week. It was super easy. We walked right up to the window to pick up our reserved tickets then waiting in line for about 15 minutes. We picked them up a just a few minutes before the time on our reservations. No problem at all. Have fun!
