My friend who is traveling from the US to Italy with me uses Kratom for depression. It is legal In our state and most US states, and also in Italy, but has anyone experienced problems getting through security or customs with Kratom in their possession?

Security, anywhere, is not concerned about what the individual is carrying as long as it is not some type of a potential weapon. Therefore, pills, etc, are not a concern. But if you are carrying a bag of 2,000 pills that could be another issue. Second, customs is a simply walk through the green door - nothing to declare. Often times there isn't even an officer present so customs is not an issue. I am not familiar with Kratom or what the concern might be but if you have concern then make sure he has a Rx from his doctor and the pills are will marked.
