We have always just walked out of the airport and caught a bus. They go pretty often and are easy to use.

When I was there several years ago I walked to the city entrance and caught the train to Mestre. It is a 5 minute ride and cost 25c at that time.

If you don't find out before you go, you can always ask someone at Marco Polo how to do it.

I was guessing Pam meant Marco Polo, the airport (and a long walk), not San Polo, the sestiere.
