we are planning a number of activies after our RS tour. Do people have advice on using the FL1 train line vs the "Leonardo Express" to get to the airport from city center on our last day in Rome? If using the Leonardo Express, do tickets need to be bought in advance?
Neither train would need tickets purchased in advance
Price never changes, can’t sell out
Most ride the Leonardo Express from the dedicated gate at Termini. Tickets can be purchased out of a vending machine. Just be sure you stamp it in the yellow box--validation. The conductors carefully look at tickets on board.
It may depend on where you're staying - the FL1 stops at the Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana and Tiburtina stations, but not Termini. It is cheaper but may be slower. Leonardo Express departs from Termini.
