Hi, 15 years ago a someone gave us tickets for a tour that went into the catacombs beneath St. Peter's Basilica (Vatican). These tickets were reserved months in advance. It ended at what may be St. Peter's tomb. It was a GREAT tour. Unfortunately, we forgot to ask that person where she got the tickets from. Now we have a chance to get back to Rome. Does anyone know of the tour we are thinking of?
Does anyone know where/how to get those tickets? Thanks!
Yes, it is a wondrful tour! Here's the website. You have to email the Ufficio Scavi for tickets. http://saintpetersbasilica.org/Necropolis/ScaviTour.htm.
[email protected] Let them know any possible dates you can take the tour, the more the better chance you have of getting on one. Let them know the names of anyone who will be on the tour. Be aware that everyone must be 15 years or older in order to take the tour. You won't be able to take any but the smallest of bags with you on the tour and there is no photography allowed. It's a wonderful tour. Good luck, I hope you get a slot. Donna
You can also type "scavi" in the search window on this page in the upper right to see previous discussions about this wonderful tour. (We did it last year and really enjoyed it.)
We took the sacvi tour. Fabulous! Make reservations far in advance. Also be aware they have age restrictions for kids.
Thank you everyone!
