Getting nervous about plan

Hi everyone,
You have all been very helpful with advice as we have planned our trip to Italy & France. Now as the time is getting nearer,(2 weeks away) I am getting nervous that we didn't plan it out well enough.
This is our trip: 1 week in Rome...staying at a wonderful private rental off Piazza Navona, 5days/night in Paris (apartment), 1 week in Praiano (B&B) to explore the Amalfi Coast, 4 days in Sorrento (Hotel) and then back to Fiumicino (hotel) for 2 days and then home.

** Did we plan too long on the Amalfi Coast?
*Should we extend Paris and then take Eurostar to spend a couple of days in London?
*
Should we explore farther inland in the south?
**Am I over thinking all of this ???

P.S. We did see Rome (for only 3 days) Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Siena, & Pisa on our last trip to Italy in 2011.

Thanks for your patience and help!
Nancy

I also leave for my second trip to Italy in about 2 weeks! I understand the feeling of wanting to make changes to the itinerary, and I have fiddled with mine a bit. You probably dont need to stay in both Praiano and Sorrento, but I'm sure there is plenty to do and see even if your stay was longer. I dont think I would add London to this trip, but thats just my opinion.

** Am I ovethinking this? Yes. You're leaving in two weeks. Get organized, make sure you've called your credit card compaies and your bank associated with your Debit card to make sure they know you will be in Italy and France. Don't add London!!! Too many cities too far apart!

If you plan your trip so strictly there will be no room for spontaniety. This is going to be a wonderful trip!! Leave it alone!! Happy travels!

I think that you should stick to your original plan! I always always err on the side of staying in a place for a while rather than rushing about, which is what I think you'll feel like if you end up trying to do too much. Save London and other parts of Britain for another trip. You'll have plenty to do and see in each place you are planning to go.

I don't think you should second guess yourself. I think it's just last minute nerves. I've been to Europe many times and I always feel nervous before a trip. There's never enough time to see everything I want, no matter how long my trip is. I think your itinerary is good. I may have configured it differently, I love Paris, Rome was just ok, so I would give more time to Paris and less to Rome - but that's just me. By asking people their opinion, you could get many different answers and be no better off. I think your trip looks good and you'll have a great time.

I do not think a week for the Amalfi Coast is too long at all. We've been there 3 times, for a week each time and it was not too long. We always left wishing we could have stayed longer.

What Donna said. :-)

After living here for awhile and traveling more frequently we have learned that less-is-more. Stay longer, enjoy everyday life, don't try to cram in every site. Take long walks, enjoy sitting in a piazza, watch little children, talk to locals. Seize good weather days with both hands and be happy seeing a museum and doing your laundry when the weather is less-than-perfect.

Don't miss Ravello's fabulous villas and have a blast!

If you've been to Rome and decided to spend a week there plus a couple of days at the end, knowing what awaits you, stick with it. If you feel it's too much Rome, then spend a couple of those nights in Orvieto. The rest of the Italian stay sounds lovely.

"extend Paris and then . . . London" Are you suggesting changing your flight home? Have you been to Paris and London before? Is Paris your last destination? I ask because you put it between Rome and the AC.

And yes, you probably are overthinking.

Another vote to breathe and leave it alone. Praiano is great, halfway between Positano and Amalfi. You can get to Paestum if you want another unique experience (don't miss the museum as well as the archeological zone).

If you get bored in central Rome (is such a thing possible?), daytrip to Frascati, Castel Gandolfo, Ostia Antica or Tivoli.

As for 2 days (nights?) in Fiumicino, stay in Rome (add the two days/nights elsewhere) and arrange transportation to the airport (Leonardo Express from Termini starts running early enough (5:50am) to make most flights, or reserve a taxi for less than €50.

I wouldn't spend so long in the Amalfi coast. I would extend Paris and add Florence to the mix. There is nothing wrong with changing your itinerary rather than being a slave to it. If you stay in Paris longer, you can venture out and pop into southern England.

Thanks so much for all the replies! When we first went to Italy, we listened to others who said to stay only 3 days in Rome and base in Florence. We were lucky enough to find an amazing apartment on the Campo dei Fiori and felt like locals. We had a nice apartment in Florence where we stayed for 9 days and did side trips, but always felt like we didn't give Rome enough time!
We now are renting a larger place from the same wonderful person, who we have become friends with over the years, off Piazza Navona. Our youngest son and 3 other guys we have "adopted" from Bulgaria are going to be with us for the week in Rome. (The adopted boys worked with my husband at our local golf course for a few summers during a college exchange course) They are so excited to visit Rome and reconnect! We decided to go to Paris from Rome as our son would like to travel there as well and his vacation only lasts another week after Rome. We do have friends who live a half hour south of Paris. I started second guessing myself because we decided to leave Paris when our son has to and return to Italy. Then, I thought , oh jeez , we are not on a time limit!!But alas, have already purchased airfare etc.
Thanks to your recommendation Zoe, we are flying back to Italy and spending a week at La Maurella & then to Sorrento and on to the Port of Rome. We will take a day trip while in Fiumicino.
Thanks for all your time and help...greatly appreciated! Will post when we return!

Your name is Nancy, not Nellie, so don't be nervous, just be excited! Would your family adopt me too, even though I'm not Bulgarian? I think your itinerary looks terrific, no need to mess with it. If you want a great day excursion in the middle of your time in Praiano, get an early start and spend the day going to Vietro sul Mare (coastal ceramic village), old town Salerno and Paestum for the wonderful Greek (and Roman) ruins and small museum. That day could include a neat mix of busses, trains, boats if running at that time, or a car..
