We are going to Italy for a long trip (over 3 weeks). Where can I get incontinence pads for men in Italy? We are going to Florence, Rome, and Venice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Barry, I've never had occasion to buy those, however the first place to look would be a Pharmacy. Look for a big green cross - they're very easy to find. If they don't carry that type of product, I'm sure they would know where to find them. It may be a good idea to have the Italian words written on a piece of paper to show the Pharmacist. I'm still working on my Italian, but you might try Pastiglie di incontinenza urinaria (hopefully someone else can confirm that). Happy travels!
Thank you. I am hoping that someone has used them there. The advice is useful
Hi Barry, I would check out a pharmacy, maybe call them ahead of time to find out if they carry this product. I say this because sometimes the pharmacies do not carry what you think they would (if one bases it on what pharmacies carry here in the states). For example, we wanted tissue (e.g. Kleenex) and never did find it. Also, I was looking for a simple plastic tub to soak my feet, as our hotels had only showers. Finally, after MUCH looking and a ton of walking, we found one at a hardware store, not a pharmacy or a grocery store, although the pharmacy did have the epsom salts. I noticed that in Italy, there is no such thing as the "one stop shopping" convenience that we have here for many items. They are far more specialized over there. If you can contact an Italian pharmacy to find out if pharmacies generally carry them, or where to buy them, great. Possibly one of the hotels you are staying at can give you the phone number of an Italian pharmacy. As already suggested, it's also a good idea to know the name of the product in Italian (an idea is to search the Google translator). If it is carried at pharmacies, there are many pharmacies in abundance in Italy. They are usually very small, not large like many pharmacies here -- that is why I am concerned if they do in fact carry them. If not, maybe plan on bringing your own supplies as a back up. Warm wishes and happy travels! Ruth
