Getting from Venice to San Vito d'Altivole

I’m heading to Venice in September this year, mainly for the Architecture Biennale, plus a bit of sight seeing. The other item on my agenda is seeing the work of the architect, Carlo Scarpa, something of a homage, I suppose.

He did a tomb for the Brion family at San Vito d’Altivore, Treviso, next to the common grave yard, and I want to see it, experience it too.

Any tips on getting there from Venice would be most welcome. Also can members of the proletariat such as I just stroll around there?

Thanks.

A search delivered a bus #204 from Castelfranco Veneto on www.mobilitadimarca.it/extraurbano2015 Castelfranco has frequent »regionale« trains from Venice Santa Lucia, taking only one hour or less. Check at www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en.
And while you're in the area, you can also pay tribute to Palladio. Fanzolo has the Villa Emo, a few metres from the tiny railway station. The more famous Villa Barbaro in Maser can be reached by going on to Cornuda, on the same railway line from Castelfranco. Be prepared for a walk of maybe 45 mins. There is only a school bus, and when I visited, there was no taxi to be seen.

Thanks Ton, great info. I might make a day of it, and go to Possagno for the Canova gallery also. Another work by Carlo Scarpa.
