getting from Venice airport to Fondamente Nuove

Hi: Can anyone suggest a good way to get from Venice airport to Fondamente Nuove? We're renting an apartment for 3 nights near there. The water taxi will be too expensive, and even the Aliguna boat seems to cost 12 euros each, and doesn't leave very often.

If we take the bus to the bus station, what would be the best way to get to where we need to go? There seems to be a Vaporetto stop at the bus station (piazzalle roma), and according to the map in Rick's 2007 book, there seems to be a stop about 600 meters away from Fondmente Nuove. We're fit and will be travelling light. Is that a reasonable idea for first timers to Venice?

There are several vaporetto lines that stop at Fondamente Nuove. It will be easy to get there from the bus station (Piazzale Roma). You'll have no problems getting there.

Last April we also traveled light and took the bus to Piazzalle Roma, vaporetto to a stop near our hotel, and then walked.

In the airport you can get a bus ticket/vaporetta pass--they only accept Euros--no credit cards. You should look into getting a vap. pass for the number of days you will be there. Cheaper in the long run and you can also use them to go out to the islands.
