Getting from Sorrento to the Naples Airport

We are staying in Sorrento for a week next May. We arrive at the Naples airport. Question - is there a direct way to go to Sorrento or do we have to take the bus to the Naples train station and take the train? Question 2 - We will fly from Naples airport and our flight is at 9am. Would it be wise to get a room in Naples the night before we fly? Or should we go directly to the airport from Sorrento - again, would we take the train and then a bus; or is there a direct route to the airport? By taxi? I imagine that might cost a lot?

There is at last one direct airport bus route to Sorrento. I would even hang out at the airport up to an hour in order to take that more streamlined transport.

I would definitely stay the night in Naples the night before the flight--it's only 15-20 minutes to the airport. Have your hotel schedule the cab for the morning.
A private driver from Sorrento would probably be close to 100euros, maybe a bit less.

Would recommend the Stelle Hotel the Businet directly outside
the Naples train station-safe, clean with a nice little restaurant
and we left very early for the airport and they called taxi and it
was less than a 15 minute ride. $120 for a large king room two
years ago.

For your flight out, stay in Naples the night before. You can take either the Alibus, €5 about 15 minutes or a taxi, fixed rate € 18-22. 15-30 min dependent on location of hotel.

Show the card to the driver and get a receipt before you leave hotel.

Enjoy a night in Naples before your early flight. The airport is near downtown so stay in the city.

Yes, stay in Naples. Your flight is at 9 you'd be pressed to get to the airport by 7:00 from Sorrento without getting up at an ungodly hour.
Spend the evening in Naples and wake at a halfway decent hour. The airport is only 6 miles from the center.
