I'm planning a trip that starts in Naples this summer and I was going to fly into Naples itself, but got a ticket on frequent flier miles into Rome. Can't beat a free flight! Anyway, I land in Rome at about 11AM (from home - will need to go through passport control in Rome) and need to go to Naples that day.
So...would you suggest booking a quick flight to Naples for that afternoon (since I am already at the airport and don't need to go into Rome)? Or would it still be better to go to Termini to get the Rome - Naples train? Or is there a third option I'm missing? Money isn't a factor here, within reason - costs look similar enough that I'm not horribly concerned about which is cheaper.
Once I get to Naples I will be going to an airbnb in the Chiaia area - I will probably get a taxi or shuttle from the airport or train station (I don't want to mess with Naples public transit on jet lag and with luggage. Carry on size, but still...)
I've been to Rome multiple times, including last year. Naples only once a long time ago. So I have a good feel for Rome trains and airport, but less so for Naples.
