Getting from Pisa airport to Pisa Centrale train station

I am flying from the US to Pisa via Rome. My first question is whether I will go through customs at the Rome airport, since that's the point of my arrival in Italy, or at the Pisa airport, where I will be retrieving my stowed luggage.

My flight from Rome arrives in Pisa at 10:55 am. I want to catch a train from Pisa Centrale to Monterosso at 11:42 am. Based on what I've read, there is a shuttle from the airport to the train station that leaves every 10 minutes and takes 8 minutes.

Assuming my flight from Rome to Pisa is on time, will I be able to catch that 11:42 train?

Thanks.

You pass immigration in Rome and customs in Pisa, although that involves just walking out the door marked "Nothing to Declare". I doubt if you'll make an 11:42 train, but might as well try. If not, you catch the next connection.

The Pisa airport shuttle is now by LAM Rossa bus, during construction on the train line, and I understand the bus to take 15 minutes. After the 11:42 direct train, the next two departures to Monterosso require a connection at La Spezia, or the next direct train departs Pisa at 13:42 daily.
