getting from Pisa airport to Levanto and back

Hi there i am wondering what my options are for getting to Levanto. Is there a direct bus or is it best to get the train? If I get the train is it necessary to book in advance or can I just book when I get to the station. How much time shouldI allow for my return journey I would need to be in the airport for 1pm. Only going for a few days so I want to make the most of my time there. Thanks in advance. :)

I would take the train. Go to RailEurope website to see the timetables.
I would book in advance to guarantee a seat if you are traveling in the summer, and because you have to be at the airport by a certain time.

Pisa Centrale to Levanto is a 1hr16min journey by train if you pick the right run. Some runs are longer and require a train change. Pisa airport also has a train station. It's a 5-minute ride from the airport station to Pisa Centrale where you change trains. I've tried to see the run from the Pisa airport to and from Levanto on both the Trentitalia and www.bahn.de website. Both say the route does not exist even though I can input it into the system. I wonder if there is some difficulty with the link to the airport.
