Getting from Palermo, Sicily to Heraklion, Greece

I will be going from Palermo to Heraklion in mid-October 2016 and am trying to figure out how to do it. Palermo-Rome-Athens-Heraklion? I am in the US and in search of a website that will help me figure out this itinerary. The US travel sites do 't seen useful for an itinerary entirely within Europe.
Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You can start with rome2rio.com, which can help by suggesting high-level options. In this case, it points out that there are flights from Catania to Heraklion.

For flights, many folks like to use skyscanner.com.

Sadj,

I'd have to spend some time looking at various options, but one possibility is an easyJet flight from Palermo to Milan / MXP. From there you could connect with an Aegean Air flight from MXP to Heraklion (via Athens). That would likely involve a change of Terminals at MXP, as easyJet uses Terminal 2. I'm sure thee are other options, but I'd have to look.

The trip would have been much less complicated at other times of the year, as there are seasonal flights available on that route, but unfortunately they end on Sept. 30.
