Getting from MXP to Bellagio - then Bellagio to Milan Centrale

Hi, family of 4 (2 adults / 2 teens) are arriving at MXP at 10:30am on June 8th and will travel to Bellagio for a few days. Kids are good travelers and we pack light.

  1. It looks like we can get a :45 train to Como, then an hour ferry to Bellagio. This seems like a fairly quick, economical plan. We want to make it easy, so would you offer any alternatives?

  2. Bigger concern is Bellagio to Milan Central for a 12:30pm train on Sunday June 11. The same route in reverse seems dicey given our 12:30 train departure and Sunday schedules. What would be a good plan for to get to Milan Centrale? We'd consider a taxi for this route, but only if no other options make sense. Thanks!

Item 2: There should be a train at 10:35 from Varenna that gets you to Milano Centrale at 11:40. Now you just need to check the ferry schedule for the mid-lake shuttle to get you to Varenna by 10:00 at the latest. Its is not that far from the dock to the train station, but it is up hill all the way.

I say "should" because June 11 is the day they revise the train schedules in Italy, and no regional trains are officially scheduled yet. They will probably be up by the time you get to Italy. They usually don't change, but you cannot buy a ticket until they are scheduled. There is no ticket office at Varenna-Esino station. So you need to buy the tickets before hand, either on-line, on the app, or at a train station on your arrival day.

Item 1: The alternative is to go the way in Item 2 in reverse. Probably get you there about the same time.
Assuming your plan is to take 11:56 Malpensa Express to Saronno and change there to a train to Como Lagho, arriving at 13:14, then taking the 14:20 fast boat to Bellagio, arriving at 15:04

Thanks! The Varenna to Milan Centrale route sounds best for our return trip. Shorter / more frequent ferry from Bellagio to Varenna, and easy jump to Milan.
