Can you get from Frari Church to the Doge Palace in under one hour? At the end of April we have a walking tour that ends at the Frari Church (around 11am) and want to get to the Doge Palace Secret Itineraries tour (noon) right afterwards. We'll have the vaporetto pass but don't know about departure times from the St. Toma dock, or how long the ride takes to the San Zaccaria stops. Also, which line should we take? Trying to walk between the two does not seem practical with our time constraint. Any advice? Thanks, Sara
Easiest way is to walk to the San Toma dock and take the the No 1 boat to San Marco. Boats go every 12 minutes and it should take about 13 minutes to San Marco Valloresso. Schedule says No 1 at S. Toma at 11:10 and 11:22, so either one will get you there well before noon. Otherwise you will have to walk to the Accademia Bridge and cross and walk to San Marco.
The Doges Palace entrance is about halfway between San Marco Valloresso and San Zaccaria, so might as well get off at the first stop rater than to San Zaccaria and walk back (over 2 stepped bridges).
I think it would be easier and maybe faster to walk to the Rialto bridge and then from the bridge to the palace.
The church is well worth going in with masterpieces by Titian and Bellini.
